Along with JD Twitch, Belfast Playboy Mr JG Wilkes formed the phenomenon that is Optimo (espacio), to be found at the Sub Club in Glasgow on Sunday nights. The best description of the sub-club, and the nature of the night, is through the origin of the name. "Optimo" is a song (released in 1983) by Liquid Liquid. The historical and cultural origins of Liquid Liquid would provide the inspiration for the ethos of the club; a return to the spirit of early 80's New York where many nascent scenes were emerging (hip hop, punk, no-wave, disco, gay, straight, art) all separate from each other but all united in a totally open attitude to experimentation and unequivocal challenge to creative boundaries or conventions.
JG Wilkes dj's from vinyl, incorporating cross genre records with the common thread of a real groove - be it disco, reggae, shuffle, wonky rock'n'roll or primitive electronica, and when he plays there is only one place you want to be: on your feet dancing. As well as djing around the world, Wilkes produces and remixes at his own studio, Hottrax in Glasgow. Working with his studio partner, James Savage under the name " Naum" they have made various releases with Kompakt Records (Cologne) and produced remixes as "Naum Gabo" for many artists including Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand, The Lotterboys, The Switches, Snow Patrol, Sons and Daughters, Archie Bronson Outfit and Midnight Mike.

"We love your ears'

Love Grenades is a Los Angeles based act, created by singer/songwriter Liz Wight. After becoming a finalist here in the first Music Nation competition, the music video for "Young Lovers" won the Best Music Video Award at the 32nd Annual New England Film and Video Festival, won Best Song in a Music Video at the No Exit Music Video Festival in New York and is up for an award at the California Independent Film Festival. The video was also on the BIG SCREEN in Los Angeles at the DGA theater, for the VC Film Festival. It was featured in FILTER Magazine and GenART. Video directed by Steve Lee.

Panthère is the sound track for the day after tomorrow. The vision of Jean Marc Virard also known as JMV and Rob English (both also from the band DE SIGNER), this is the album you listen to when the next "Towers" fall or the "God's" return. Combining the dark energy of Joy Division with the sound waves of Suicide they've created a special release project that resonates with the post-punk classics. Stripped down with no ornaments the Panthère mode is simple and hypnotizing. Smashing atoms and making grilled cheese sandwiches in alternate realties. Reminding music lovers of every species that eventually we'll all have to "pass the beat". In the darkness of a hopeless dawn you will find a radio begging you to wipe away the blood and dance. It will be playing Fire In The Sky.
